Methods of Prayer and Discussion
Methods of Prayer and Discussion is composed by a circular curtain (diameter 550 cm), a rug (diameter 520 cm), a short table (294x170x35 cm) and 4 pillows of distinguished forms. The construction is proposed as a place which offers at the same time a very small extrovert stage for a minimum performance, and an introvert space of concentration or isolation (when the curtain is closed) or a small scale discussion and common eating space for less than 8 seated people.
The setting, when it does not open to its exterior is meant to propose the minimum space for an intimate discussion, taking place between people who are all necessarily involved in it. The tradition of the symposia in Greek and the ottoman space for laying down and eating is commented in this setting. Atheneus in his Deipnosophistes is giving this number of participants in a co-eating or co-drinking group of people to be in the appropriate number for being together.
Methods of Prayer and Discussion is an island of objects from the series of Empty University. It was realized in documenta 14, at the Athens School of Fine Arts, 2017.
