The cut out is not only a presentation technique; it has also to do with the condition of isolated entities that are included in the project's archive. The cut out shows many entries in a &dlquotself standing” mode as if they are not interrelated parts of a network. The project Nicosia Water Tanks is identified to a double condition: its first part includes an open repository of finds that are related to the water system of Nicosia; its second part is related to an action of extracting some selected pieces of the archive in order to create ensembles that may form meanings because of the idiosyncratic accumulations of some material.
